Chonnam National University and Chosun University medical schools, which are facing a large-scale expulsion crisis among medical students, are extending the deadline for submitting reinstatement applications.
According to Chonnam National University and Chosun University on the 27th, Chonnam National University Medical School distributed a notice stating, "We will accept reinstatement applications for students on leave of absence until noon on the 28th of this semester."
The notice stated, "The deans and medical school professors will do their utmost to ensure that additional reinstatement applications are approved," and added, "We will protect returning students so they can safely focus on their studies. If any cases of ostracism or class disruption are detected, we will accept anonymous reports and initiate disciplinary procedures."
However, whether reinstatement applications submitted after the previous deadline of the 24th will be ultimately accepted will be determined after consultation with the Ministry of Education.
This semester, out of a total of 893 Chonnam National University medical students, 697 (78%) applied for a leave of absence, but a significant number of applications were rejected for unrecognized reasons.

Chonnam National University plans to send expulsion notices to medical students who do not return after the additional reinstatement application period closes at noon on the 28th.
Similarly, Chosun University had planned to close reinstatement applications for students on leave at 5 p.m. on this day, but decided to extend the deadline by one more day until the 28th. For online submissions, Chosun University will accept reinstatement applications until midnight on the 28th. Among Chosun University medical students, 689 out of 878 (78.5%) expressed their intention to take a leave of absence and did not register for the semester.
