Namwon Municipal Gugak Orchestra to Hold 'Cherry Blossom Concert' on the 3rd of Next Month

Performances Featuring Dance, One-Act Plays, and Folk Songs

The Namwon Municipal Gugak Orchestra in North Jeolla Province will hold the "Cherry Blossom Music Concert" at 7:30 p.m. on April 3 at the special stage set up at Sipsujeong, Yocheon.


According to the city on the 27th, the "Cherry Blossom Music Concert" is part of the Namwon Municipal Gugak Orchestra's planned performance series, "Go Go Gugak Concert." Timed to coincide with the peak of cherry blossom season, the concert aims to offer citizens and tourists visiting Yocheon a romantic night view and an opportunity to enjoy traditional Korean music culture amid the beautiful cherry blossoms.

This performance will run for about 1 hour and 30 minutes. To showcase a variety of genres, the first part will feature traditional folk music such as dance, one-act plays, and folk songs, while the second part will present fusion gugak performances including a modeumbuk concerto, gugak orchestra, and pansori choral pieces.


A city official said, "We hope you create special spring night memories by enjoying a high-quality gugak performance under the beautiful cherry blossom night view," adding, "In addition to the Cherry Blossom Music Concert, the Municipal Gugak Orchestra will also present various regular and occasional performances in 2025, so we ask for your continued interest."


Meanwhile, the Namwon Municipal Gugak Orchestra is planning a variety of regular performances at Gwanghallu Garden from next month through October (excluding the Chunhyang Festival period). ▲ On Fridays at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., "Jeontong Sori Cheong," focusing on folk music, will be held at Wanwoljeong in Gwanghallu Garden. ▲ On Fridays at 8 p.m., "Night Pumgyeong of Gwanghallu," where you can enjoy the melodies of gugak against the nightscape of Gwanghallu, will be performed at Yeongjugak and Bangjangjeong in Gwanghallu Garden.
