Gurye County Cancels Opening Ceremony of 300-ri Cherry Blossom Festival

Gurye County, South Jeolla Province (Governor Kim Soonho) has decided to cancel the opening ceremony of the 2025 Gurye 300-ri Cherry Blossom Festival, which was originally scheduled for March 28, due to the prolonged aftermath of the wildfire that broke out on March 21.

As the recent wildfires across the country have created a serious situation and caused significant damage in Sancheong and Hadong, which are also part of the Jirisan region, Gurye County has decided to cancel the opening ceremony, singing contest, riding event, and Nongak performance, as well as scale down other related programs.

Kim Soonho, Governor of Gurye County, stated, "Since the wildfire situation is unpredictable, both the county and the organizing committee will remain vigilant," adding, "We will do our utmost to ensure the safety of residents and visitors."
