Previously, paper notices were sent by mail, but there were many cases where recipients did not receive the notices due to loss, misdelivery, or address mismatches.
Accordingly, the city has been building an electronic notification system since July last year to resolve civil complaints and improve the efficiency of administrative services.
The newly introduced electronic notification service will be sent to the taxpayer’s smartphone without a separate application.
When a notification arrives via KakaoTalk, Naver app, or text message, recipients can verify their identity, check the notice, and make payment immediately.
If the notification is not checked, the notice can still be received by mail as before, so there is no worry about missing the service.
Additionally, Yangju City inspected the system and supplemented improvements through a two-month pilot operation starting in February.
With the introduction of this service, citizens will be able to receive notices more quickly, and the cost of registered mail, which required a huge annual budget, is expected to be reduced by 57% compared to before.
Shim Yoon-jung, head of the Vehicle Management Division, said, “The electronic notification of fines will greatly enhance citizen convenience and also have a significant budget-saving effect,” adding, “We will continue to strengthen smart administration and strive to establish a proper parking culture.”
