Started with Voluntary Participation of Public Officials
Residents Encouraged to Join Until the 25th of Next Month

Gwangju Buk-gu has launched a fundraising campaign to support local residents affected by a large-scale wildfire. Buk-gu announced on the 27th that it will collect donations for the "Wildfire Damage Relief Fund" from the 28th of this month until the 25th of next month.

Buk-gu Gwangju Begins Fundraising to Help Neighbors Affected by Wildfires On the 27th, the Marine Corps amphibious assault helicopter Marinon was deployed to the wildfire site in Uiseong, Gyeongbuk, carrying out firefighting missions. Provided by the Marine Corps, Yonhap News Agency.

This fundraising effort was organized to provide swift solidarity and support in response to a national disaster, as large-scale wildfires that broke out simultaneously in Gyeongbuk and other Yeongnam regions have continued for over a week, increasing the scale of the damage. Buk-gu will begin the campaign with voluntary participation from public officials, and will actively encourage residents to join in as well.

The collected donations will be used for emergency relief activities, recovery projects, and support for victims in the affected areas through the Korean Red Cross. Residents who wish to participate can transfer their donations to a dedicated wildfire relief account, and further inquiries can be made through the district office’s Administrative Support Division.

District Mayor Moon In said, "This wildfire is not just a problem for one region, but a national disaster that everyone must overcome together," adding, "I hope the hearts of Buk-gu’s 430,000 residents and public officials can bring comfort to those in the affected areas."
