Recently, companies have united and actively stepped forward to help recover from the large-scale wildfires that occurred in Sancheong, Gyeongnam, and Uiseong, Gyeongbuk.
According to the financial sector on the 27th, major domestic financial groups and fintech companies have prepared various support measures to aid recovery from the wildfire damage, mainly in the Gyeongsang region.
Hana Financial Group donated 1 billion KRW and provided 1,111 happiness boxes containing medicines, hygiene products, and ready-to-eat meals. Hana Bank will provide new funds including emergency management stabilization funds of up to 50 million KRW for individuals and up to 500 million KRW for small and medium-sized enterprises and individual business owners. They will also support financial aspects such as extending existing loan maturities and deferring repayments. Hana Card, Hana Life Insurance, and Hana General Insurance will support card payment deferrals, a 30% discount on card loan fees, premium payment deferrals, and priority insurance payouts.
Shinhan Financial Group established a 1 billion KRW fund and will provide comprehensive financial support. They plan to carry out emergency support projects for firefighters and public officials who died or were injured during wildfire suppression efforts.
They plan to provide economic support so that the families of the deceased can maintain their livelihoods. For the injured, they will focus on medical expense support for severe trauma treatment such as burns and promote customized support for mental and physical recovery.
Shinhan Bank will offer small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners ▲new loans up to 500 million KRW ▲maturity extensions and installment payment deferrals ▲special preferential interest rates up to 1.5%P for new loans and maturity extensions. For new or existing personal loan customers, they plan to provide up to 1.5%P interest rate discounts.
Donamu raised a total of 1 billion KRW in donations and delivered it to the Korean Red Cross. Donamu expressed sympathy for the social pain and sorrow caused by the wildfire and announced its participation in relief activities and community recovery.
The donations Donamu delivered to the Korean Red Cross will be used for ▲consolation payments and psychological counseling support for the families of firefighters and public officials who died during wildfire suppression ▲counseling support for disaster victims, firefighters, and public officials who suffered psychological shock due to the disaster ▲emergency support for disaster victims including livelihood, medical care, and housing.
In addition, Donamu plans to promote various supports for medical expenses for severe trauma patients as well as physical and mental recovery to help local residents, firefighters, and public officials involved in suppression efforts overcome the damage and return to daily life.
They also plan to contribute to building infrastructure for prevention and response against future disasters, such as shelters, feeding centers, relief supplies, fire-retardant materials, and recovery vehicles.
