U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated the necessity of incorporating Greenland into the United States ahead of Vice President J.D. Vance and his wife's visit to the Danish autonomous territory of Greenland.

On the 26th (local time), during a press conference at the White House regarding automobile tariffs, President Trump responded to reporters, saying, "We need Greenland. The whole world, including Denmark, needs us to incorporate Greenland."

He added, "Denmark should allow us to incorporate Greenland," and said, "We will see what happens next."


In particular, he stated, "If we do not have Greenland, we cannot maintain excellent international security," and said, "If you look at Chinese and Russian ships outside Greenland, that is where we need to be."


He emphasized, "If we are not there, we cannot protect national and international security."


President Trump's remarks came ahead of Vice President Vance and his wife Usha's visit to Greenland on the 27th.


Earlier, the White House announced in a press release that the Vice President and his wife are scheduled to visit the Pituffik military base, the northernmost U.S. military base in Greenland, to receive briefings and meet with troops.
