Kakao is stepping up to support victims affected by large-scale wildfires. Kakao's social contribution platform, 'Kakao Together Value,' has seen over 1.2 million users participate in an emergency fundraising campaign to aid recovery efforts for the major wildfire damages in Gyeongnam, Gyeongbuk, and Ulsan, raising more than 5 billion KRW to date. Kakao plans to contribute a total of 1 billion KRW by donating 1,000 KRW for each user encouragement comment.
Since the morning of the 23rd, Kakao Together Value has opened an emergency donation box in collaboration with the Community Chest of Korea and Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association to raise funds. News of the fundraising spread rapidly through various SNS channels, attracting participation from over 1.2 million people within just four days.
The collected donations from users' warm support will be used to provide essential supplies such as bottled water, food, blankets, and relief kits for wildfire victims. Additionally, the funds will support housing and livelihood assistance for those who have lost their homes.
Users wishing to participate in the fundraising can donate directly or easily join by writing encouragement comments. Kakao will donate 1,000 KRW per comment posted on the emergency donation box page and 100 KRW per comment on individual donation box pages.
