On the 27th, Gimpo City held an emergency meeting chaired by the Director of the Park City Project Headquarters, attended by related agencies and town and township chiefs, to discuss available personnel for wildfire monitoring and surveillance. In addition to operating the existing specialized wildfire suppression team, the city plans to mobilize all available resources, including all public officials, community leaders, and volunteer firefighters, to proactively prevent large-scale wildfires.

First, the city will intensify wildfire surveillance activities to the maximum extent. Gimpo City will form a wildfire prevention patrol team and actively engage with residents, visitors paying respects at ancestral graves, and recreational visitors to eliminate risk factors for wildfire occurrence. The city also plans to emphasize wildfire prevention and seek cooperation through village broadcasts and meetings of community leaders.

In cases where there is a possibility of burning garbage or agricultural by-products, active prevention measures will be taken. If a fire does occur, the arsonist may face imprisonment of up to three years or a fine of up to 30 million won.

Additionally, in the event of a wildfire, evacuation shelters will be designated through relevant departments to safely evacuate nearby residents and vulnerable groups (such as the elderly and disabled), and pre-inspections will be conducted.

Kim Byung-su, Mayor of Gimpo City, stated, “In a situation where large-scale wildfires are occurring nationwide, Gimpo City cannot afford to lower its guard. We are thoroughly preparing measures with citizen safety as the top priority,” and added, “We will strengthen prevention to the fullest extent to avoid wildfire disasters and take all necessary actions to protect the safety of our citizens.”
