A 'village enterprise' is a company established by local residents at the village level, utilizing various local resources to conduct profit-making projects that solve common regional issues and effectively realize the interests of the local community by creating income and jobs.

The companies selected for advancement in this contest will receive a subsidy of 20 million KRW to further develop their businesses. Although the newly selected companies this year will not receive subsidies, they will secure the status of a Ministry of the Interior and Safety-type village enterprise, gaining opportunities to participate in various other support projects and networks.

Naturefrom Co., Ltd. manufactures and sells maesil extract detoxifiers and whole maesil products using maesil, a specialty product of Gwangyang. Gwangyang Maesil Hangwa LLC develops and sells stick jellies using maesil and gorosoe. Taeindobugak Cooperative Association is a company that manufactures and sells handmade gim bugak together with local residents.

Cho Dongsoo, Head of the Youth Employment Division, said, "With the selection of these village enterprises, we have taken another step toward revitalizing the social economy in our region," and added, "We will do our best to ensure that the selected companies can continue to grow sustainably in harmony with the local community."
