"Let's Purify Water Together"... Coway's EM Mud Ball Throwing Volunteer Activity

This volunteer activity took place on the 21st at Anyangcheon in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, with about 40 Coway employees and local residents from Geumcheon-gu participating. The participants donated 1,000 EM mud balls, made by kneading microbial fermentation solution and loess at the Anyangcheon multipurpose plaza, to the EM Life Sharing Movement, which will be used in future volunteer activities. They then contributed to water quality purification by throwing 2,000 EM mud balls, produced and fermented during the previous volunteer activity, into the Anyangcheon river.

EM mud balls are eco-friendly purifiers made by kneading beneficial microbial fermentation solution and loess. When introduced into rivers or streams, they gradually dissolve, purifying the water and eliminating odors. The restoration of river and stream ecosystems can also contribute to reducing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

The EM Mud Ball Throwing Volunteer Activity started in 2023 and is now in its fourth year. A Coway representative said, "We are pleased to participate in restoring the local ecosystem together with our employees again this year," adding, "We will continue to contribute to improving the local environment through various ESG projects."
