Among 98 Disclosed, 66 Saw Asset Increases... 19 Increased by Over 100 Million KRW

The average reported total assets of those subject to property disclosure in Daejeon City amounted to 833.16 million KRW. Over the past year, 66 public officials saw an increase in their assets, while 32 experienced a decrease.


On the 27th, Daejeon City announced the changes in assets for a total of 98 individuals subject to the 2025 regular property disclosure through the electronic official gazette and the city bulletin.


Mayor Lee Jangwoo of Daejeon reported 2.866 billion KRW, an increase of 345 million KRW from the previous year, while Chairman Cho Wonhui of the Daejeon City Council reported 803.55 million KRW, an increase of 16.21 million KRW.


Among district mayors, Seo Cheolmo of Seo-gu reported 2.45952 billion KRW, Choi Chunggyu of Daedeok-gu 2.11201 billion KRW, Park Heejo of Dong-gu 637.29 million KRW, Jeong Yongrae of Yuseong-gu 441 million KRW, and Kim Jesun of Jung-gu 307.07 million KRW, in order of highest to lowest assets.


Based on total assets, 69 individuals, accounting for 70.4% of those subject to property disclosure, held assets of less than 1 billion KRW.


In terms of the scale of asset increases, 19 officials (19.4%) saw increases of over 100 million KRW, 9 officials (9.2%) saw increases between 50 million and 100 million KRW, and 38 officials (38.8%) saw increases of less than 50 million KRW, which was the highest proportion.


The main reasons for asset increases were identified as a rise in deposits due to stock sales and stock price gains, while the main causes of decreases were declines in real estate values and increases in liabilities.


The reported asset details will be reviewed by the relevant Public Officials Ethics Committee within three months of disclosure, in accordance with Article 8 of the Public Officials Ethics Act. If a false or incomplete report is confirmed during the asset review, actions such as warnings and corrective measures, fines, or requests for dismissal or disciplinary action may be taken depending on the severity.


An official from the Daejeon City Public Officials Ethics Committee stated, "We will continue to strictly operate the asset registration and review system to realize a public service society that earns the trust of citizens."
