Cheongyang County Signs Contract Farming Agreement for 100 Tons of Cheongyang Chili Peppers with Kyochon Chicken

Supply Price per Kilogram Raised from 3,800 Won to 4,100 Won

Cheongyang County Signs Contract Farming Agreement for 100 Tons of Cheongyang Chili Peppers with Kyochon Chicken

Cheongyang County in Chungnam Province announced on the 27th that it has signed a contract farming agreement with Kyochon Chicken, a leading domestic chicken franchise, for the production and supply of 100 tons of Cheongyang chili peppers.

Last year, the county collaborated with Cheongyang Nonghyup for a pilot contract farming project of 54 tons. However, considering that most of this year’s contract farms are located near Jeongsan-myeon, the county has newly established a partnership with Jeongsan Nonghyup to improve the efficiency of post-harvest collection and transportation, thereby enhancing convenience for farmers.

This year, the county expanded the contract volume to 100 tons and raised the supply price from 3,800 won per kilogram last year to 4,100 won, aiming to increase the actual income of farmers.

Cheongyang chili peppers are used as a key ingredient in the Red Combo sauce, one of Kyochon Chicken’s popular menu items, and are supplied in their raw form with no washing, no sorting, and stems removed.

The county has strengthened public-private cooperation by supporting collection boxes and logistics costs, establishing a collection and delivery system through Nonghyup, and organizing site visits and meetings at the Kyochon Chicken sauce factory.

Additionally, there are mid- to long-term plans under review to expand the annual contract volume to 350 tons.

County Governor Kim Dongon stated, “This contract once again proves the excellence of Cheongyang chili peppers,” adding, “We will continue our efforts to expand sales channels and establish a stable income base to provide real benefits to our farmers.”
