Targeting the Australian Defence Force's Next-Generation Military Communications Project
Signing Cooperation Agreements with Local Companies Including GME
Hanwha Systems and Hanwha Aerospace have showcased advanced military satellite communications as they target the Australian market. To actively participate in the Australian Defence Force (ADF)’s next-generation military communications development project, ‘LAND 4140,’ they have partnered with Australian electronics and telecommunications specialist GME. LAND 4140 is a multi-layer networking and communication system designed to modernize the Australian Army’s ground command, control, and communications environment and provide the next-generation C4 system to the joint ground forces.
On the 27th, Hanwha Systems and Hanwha Aerospace are participating in the ‘Avalon Australian International Airshow 2025,’ held from the 25th to the 30th at Avalon Airport in Geelong, Australia. The Avalon Airshow is the largest international airshow in the Oceania region, held every two years.
Having first participated in 2023, Hanwha has set up a 240㎡ booth this year to showcase advanced military satellite communication solutions. This system connects land, sea, air, and space, enabling smooth communication such as real-time data transmission, high-resolution video streaming, and rapid command decision support even if ground communication networks are disrupted during warfare. They also introduced the next-generation hyper-connected tactical communication solution, the MOSS platform. The MOSS platform is an integrated command, control, and communication solution optimized for future ground combat systems. Hanwha Systems recently developed a more compact model to enhance portability and interoperability.
To localize technology within the Australian market, they also partnered with local companies. Hanwha Systems and Hanwha Aerospace’s Australian subsidiaries signed a Teaming Agreement with GME.
Based on its C4I solutions and command and control communication system development capabilities, Hanwha Systems plans to actively explore various commercialization opportunities in the Australian market in collaboration with GME and Hanwha Aerospace’s Australian subsidiary. GME is an Australian electronics, telecommunications, and antenna specialist with over 60 years of history and a solid local manufacturing base. Synergies are expected from Hanwha Systems’ 40 years of experience in manufacturing core defense equipment and its capabilities in various fields including C4I, electro-optics, radar, and avionics.
On the 25th local time, Hanwha Systems and Hanwha Aerospace’s Australian subsidiaries also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for business cooperation with Australian software company Visionary Machines. Visionary Machines, which has a team of experts in AI, computer vision (technology for extracting information from images), and robotics, is a specialist company in vision systems for both civilian and defense sectors.
Hanwha Systems, Hanwha Aerospace’s Australian subsidiaries, and Visionary Machines plan to collaborate in areas including △C4I systems for Australian military programs △defense electronics and ICT smart solutions △passive detection systems applying anti-drone systems △military vehicle design and system integration.
