Argentina and Brazil are well-known football rival countries, and the 2026 CONCACAF World Cup qualifier match between the two teams attracted attention even before it started. The Brazilian national team is a strong team that has won the World Cup five times in history, while the Argentine national team won the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Tickets for the match were sold out in an instant due to high demand, but three Argentine men attempting to enter the stadium were denied entry. In Argentina, if child support payments are delayed for more than two months, one can apply for free registration on the 'Child Support Non-Payment Debtors List' at the competent court. Once registered, according to relevant laws, the debtors are prohibited from participating in football stadium events and large-scale cultural events. In other words, those who failed to pay child support on time were unable to watch the much-anticipated national team match at the stadium.

Facundo Delgaiso, the legislator who proposed and passed the bill, stated, "It is immoral to be able to pay between 158,000 pesos (about 210,000 KRW) and 480,000 pesos (about 660,000 KRW) for football match tickets but not pay child support for your children."

Following the news of their story, the Argentine government explained, "While it cannot be considered a major achievement that only three child support debtors were denied entry out of 80,000 attendees, this is just the beginning." Currently, about 11,000 people are registered on the 'Child Support Non-Payment Debtors List' in Argentina, which is considered to be much fewer than the actual number of child support debtors.
