Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 27th that it held a special pre-promotional lecture for the "2025 Korea Garden Industry Expo" at the main auditorium on the first floor of the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency.
This special lecture was organized to raise interest and understanding of the garden industry ahead of the "2025 Korea Garden Industry Expo" to be held at Chojon Park in June. Many citizens and industry professionals attended, showing great interest.
The lecture featured prominent experts in garden design and industry, including Lee Jin-ho, President of the Korea Permaculture Association, and Park Gongyeong, Chairman of Woori Seed Group, who delivered in-depth presentations.
In the first lecture, Lee Jin-ho presented on the theme "Breaking the Boundary Between Gardens and Vegetable Patches," introducing the concept of permaculture and sustainable garden design, and suggesting eco-friendly ways to create gardens using vegetable patches and small-scale farmland. Permaculture, a combination of "permanent" and "agriculture," is a concept that aims for sustainable agriculture and lifestyle, which drew high interest from the audience.
In the following lecture, Park Gongyeong spoke on the theme "Our Flowers Have Bloomed," exploring the identity and future direction of Korean garden plants and presenting a vision for the development of the garden industry. In particular, discussions on the importance of domestic garden plants and strategies for their preservation and use resonated with the audience.
Meanwhile, Jinju City has been selected as the final host of the "2025 Korea Garden Industry Expo," organized by the Korea Forest Service, and will hold the expo at Chojon Park for ten days from June 13 to 22 under the theme "Life with Gardens: Practical Gardens in Everyday Life." In addition, the city plans to further boost interest in the garden industry by preparing a variety of programs linked to the "Jinju Hydrangea Festival in the Forest of Wolsan Mountain."
This special lecture was evaluated as a meaningful event where in-depth discussions were held on permaculture, which breaks the boundary between gardens and vegetable patches, and the identity of Korean garden plants, further raising expectations for the upcoming expo.
