Gyeonggi Office of Education Produces and Distributes Guidelines for Outsourced Meal Transportation and Operation

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is producing and distributing the ‘External Transport Consignment Meal Operation Guide’ to enhance the efficiency of consigned meal operations and improve meal quality.

The Office of Education stated on the 27th that although direct management is the principle for school meals, in unavoidable cases such as cafeteria modernization, meals are operated through external transport consignment. However, due to the lack of systematic guidelines regarding ingredient quality management standards and hygiene and safety management, confusion has occurred. Therefore, this guide was created to provide practical operational guidelines.

The main contents of the guide include ▲consigned meal operation procedures ▲ingredient quality management standards ▲contract and operation management guidelines ▲related forms and materials ▲Q&A. It is structured to establish standards for consigned meal operations to enable systematic meal management.

On the 28th, the Office of Education will hold a briefing session on the use of the guide for education support offices and school staff at the Gyeonggi Education Welfare Comprehensive Center.

At the briefing, the Office of Education will invite nutrition teacher Yu Gyeong-ran from Icheon Middle School, which is currently operating external transport consigned meals due to cafeteria modernization construction, as a lecturer. The lecture will focus on operational cases including strengthening meal hygiene and safety management, ingredient quality management, and ways to provide operational efficiency.

An official from the Office of Education said, "We expect this guide to provide practical help to schools that have faced difficulties due to the lack of guidelines," and added, "We will actively strive to create a more stable meal environment."
