Gangnam-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) announced on the 26th that the Better Life with Gangnam fam tour, held on the 26th by inviting 15 spouses of ambassadors residing in Korea to promote the excellence of Gangnam medical tourism, received high praise from the participants.

Gangnam-gu Receives Praise for Hosting Medical Tourism Fam Tour Inviting Wives of Ambassadors in Korea Gangnam-gu invited 15 members of the Spouses of Ambassadors in Korea for a fam tour. Provided by Gangnam-gu.

This fam tour was planned to introduce the excellent medical infrastructure of partner medical institutions and the charm of various K-Culture contents within Gangnam-gu to different countries. The program proceeded in the order of introducing Gangnam-gu medical tourism, a medical talk show, a personal color class, skin diagnosis and customized consulting, and medical tourism experience.

In particular, the medical talk show themed "Slow Aging," conducted by Dr. Lee Ki-ho, a family medicine specialist at Plate Clinic, received enthusiastic responses. Dr. Lee, known as an expert in "food therapy," which prescribes food like medicine to patients, said, "Besides the commonly thought procedures or surgeries, various activities such as healthy diets and lifestyle coaching can become medical tourism content to maintain a healthy daily life," adding, "Aging should not be viewed negatively as something to avoid but naturally accepted as an element of maturity, allowing the body and mind to remain healthier and more beautiful."

Additionally, participants spent time experiencing Gangnam's outstanding K-beauty contents, such as the popular personal color class and skin diagnosis program among foreigners, and visited four partner medical institutions to tour the interiors equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities and directly experience various medical services.

Anna Tamer (spouse of the Turkish Ambassador to Korea), who attended the fam tour that day, said, "This visit has made me very interested in Gangnam-gu's excellent medical infrastructure and attractive culture, and I would like to create opportunities for continuous exchange with Gangnam-gu."

Meanwhile, Gangnam-gu has fully renewed the Apgujeong-dong Gangnam Medical Tour Center to revive the medical tourism demand that had shrunk due to the COVID-19 pandemic, operating it as a medical tourism hub that provides various cultural contents and convenience services. Through customized concierge services offering airport pickup (sending) and professional interpretation, it has achieved the highest record of attracting foreign medical tourists.

This year, the district plans to focus on attracting foreign patients by providing customized services targeting the Golden Week in April and Labor Day in May, actively promoting the excellence of Gangnam medical tourism through the "Medical Gangnam" platform operated in four languages and social networking service (SNS) channels.

District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong said, "I hope that each spouse of the ambassadors who participated in the fam tour will become an ambassador for promoting Gangnam medical tourism and widely share the excellent medical technology, various K-Culture, and K-Beauty programs that our district possesses with their respective countries."
