“Daengdaeng-ah! Let's Camp by the Han River”... Mapo-gu Pet Camping Site Opens

Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su)'s 'Mapo Companion Animal Camping Site' (Sangam-dong 482-179) has completed its winter renovation and will officially begin operation on April 1.

'Mapo Companion Animal Camping Site' is a dog playground facility created last year by Mapo-gu within Nanji Hangang Park under the theme of urban camping.

The site is equipped with camping decks, dog playgrounds separated for small-to-medium and large dogs, picnic zones, drinking fountains, pet shower rooms, and drying rooms, enhancing the enjoyment and convenience for dogs and their families.

So far, the 'Mapo Companion Animal Camping Site' has received much praise for allowing visitors to camp with their dogs while enjoying views of the Hangang River, creating unique memories.

In response, Mapo-gu has carried out improvement works such as replacing aging tents and facilities to ensure that dogs and their families can enjoy camping more safely and comfortably.

Also, thanks to strong support, this year the camping site plans to welcome visitors with more programs and events.

In May, a festival will be held to celebrate Children's Day, featuring various activities such as a dog sports day and a photo zone to capture happy moments.

In July and August, the dog water playground, which received enthusiastic responses during last year's pilot operation, will open to help dogs enjoy a cool summer.

Additionally, in October, during the traditional Chuseok holiday, a 'Dog Hanbok Fashion Show' will be held, and in December, a 'Dog Santa Festival' is planned.

Furthermore, Mapo-gu will host a 'Free Dog Health Checkup' event in cooperation with related organizations such as the Korean Veterinary Medical Association to promote the health of companion dogs.

The 'Mapo Companion Animal Camping Site' operates from Tuesday to Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Reservations for using the camping site can be made through the Seoul Metropolitan Government Public Service Reservation website. Visitors without reservations can freely use the picnic zone and dog playground located on the lawn.

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, "I hope families, friends, and companions who are beloved pets create precious memories at the 'Mapo Companion Animal Camping Site,'" adding, "Mapo-gu will continue to strive to become a city where companion animals and people coexist harmoniously."
