Jo Han-chang Excluded from Disclosure
Moon Hyung-bae, Acting Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, reported assets worth 1.54 billion KRW. The average assets of the seven Constitutional Court justices were 2.7 billion KRW. Justice Jo Han-chang, who worked as a lawyer before taking office on January 1 this year, was excluded from the asset disclosure.
On the 27th, the Constitutional Court disclosed the regular asset changes of high-ranking officials, including the justices, based on last year’s data.
Acting Chief Justice Moon’s assets amounted to 1.54 billion KRW, mostly real estate. Land in areas such as Gimhae, Hadong, and Sacheon in Gyeongnam was valued at 440 million KRW, and buildings including apartments were worth 560 million KRW. Moon’s assets increased by 50 million KRW over the year, attributed to salary savings.
The average assets of the seven justices, including Lee Mi-seon, Kim Hyung-doo, Jeong Hyeong-sik, Kim Bok-hyeong, and Jeong Gye-seon, were calculated at 2.7 billion KRW. Justice Lee Mi-seon reported the highest assets among the justices at 7.52 billion KRW, while Justice Kim Bok-hyeong reported the lowest at 750 million KRW.
Unlike Justice Jo Han-chang, Justice Jeong Gye-seon was included in this disclosure as she served as the Chief Judge of the Seoul Western District Court until last year and was therefore subject to registration obligations.
