Bank of Korea Governor Lee Chang-yong's assets decrease by 57 million KRW
Commissioner Jang Yong-seong reports highest assets among Monetary Policy Committee members

Lee Chang-yong, Governor of the Bank of Korea, reported assets worth 4,419,860,000 KRW. This is about 57 million KRW less than a year ago (4,476,560,000 KRW).

According to the '2025 Regular Asset Change Report for Public Officials' by the Government Ethics Committee on the 27th, among the 4,419,860,000 KRW reported by Governor Lee, 1,125,000,000 KRW was the appraised value of forest land in Goa-eup, Gumi-si, Gyeongbuk under his name. This increased by more than 28 million KRW compared to a year ago. However, the appraised value of the apartment in Yeoksam Raemian, Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul (59.53㎡) under his spouse's name decreased by 66 million KRW from 1,297,000,000 KRW to 1,231,000,000 KRW. Deposits reported by Governor Lee himself (433,740,000 KRW), his spouse (337,430,000 KRW), and eldest son (90,620,000 KRW) totaled 861,790,000 KRW. The reason for the decrease in total deposits compared to a year ago was stated as 'monthly rent, medical expenses, consumption, etc.'

Yoo Sang-dae, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Korea, reported assets worth 2,383,430,000 KRW. This is about 250 million KRW more than a year ago. There was no change in the appraised value of 1,200,000,000 KRW for the Isu Switzen Forehills (84.95㎡) in Dongjak-dong, Dongjak-gu, Seoul, jointly owned with his spouse, but the 80,000,000 KRW leasehold right for a multi-family house in Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do under his spouse's name was removed. Deposits of himself and his spouse increased by more than 300 million KRW from 814,550,000 KRW to 1,130,610,000 KRW. The reasons were stated as previous job bonuses and conversion of jeonse deposit to monthly rent.

Jang Yong-seong, Monetary Policy Committee Member, Bank of Korea

Among the seven Monetary Policy Committee members including Governor Lee and Deputy Governor Yoo, the person with the highest assets is Commissioner Jang Yong-seong, who reported 10,286,220,000 KRW. Commissioner Jang, who took office in April 2023, increased his assets by 2,420,670,000 KRW compared to a year ago. The Parktown in Sunae-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si (101.9㎡), jointly owned with his spouse, was reported at 882,000,000 KRW, and the Namsan Lotte Castle Iris in Hoehyeon-dong 1-ga, Jung-gu, Seoul (113.46㎡) was reported at 1,143,770,000 KRW. Deposits totaled 4,238,810,000 KRW, with Commissioner Jang holding 3,955,740,000 KRW and his spouse holding 283,060,000 KRW. This was an increase of about 860,000,000 KRW compared to a year ago. Overseas listed stocks such as Tesla and Amazon also increased by more than 1,550,000,000 KRW, totaling 4,237,790,000 KRW.

Commissioner Shin Seong-hwan's assets amounted to 5,068,900,000 KRW, increasing by about 260,000,000 KRW over the year. The appraised value of his own Ramian Chellitus (124.02㎡) in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and the 39.18㎡ share of LG Hangang Xi (168.53㎡) in Ichon-dong owned by his spouse increased by about 300,000,000 KRW to 3,386,050,000 KRW. Deposits of himself, his spouse, and eldest daughter totaled 976,750,000 KRW, and he also reported unlisted stocks worth about 69,000,000 KRW.

Commissioner Hwang Geon-il, who took office in February last year, reported assets worth 3,024,960,000 KRW, about 500,000,000 KRW more than at the time of appointment. His spouse inherited a 280,230,000 KRW share (28.74㎡) of Ramian Sangdo 3rd Complex (114.97㎡) in Sangdo-dong, Dongjak-gu, Seoul, and deposits of himself and his spouse increased from 375,060,000 KRW to 1,275,010,000 KRW. Domestic stocks worth 587,800,000 KRW, including Naver and Samsung Electronics, reported last year, were all sold.

Commissioner Kim Jong-hwa, who joined the Monetary Policy Committee in April last year, reported assets worth 4,051,420,000 KRW. Bangbae Hyundai Memphis 2 (162.80㎡) in Bangbae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul was appraised at 1,455,000,000 KRW, and his deposits were 1,382,510,000 KRW. Commissioner Lee Soo-hyung, who took office at the same time, reported assets worth 2,331,660,000 KRW. Hyundai (189.63㎡) in Seohyeon-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si was appraised at 1,297,790,000 KRW, and private bonds amounted to 1,100,000,000 KRW.
