Opposition Urges Ruling Party to Accept Court's Decision
"Follow Kwon Seong-dong's Words and Respect the Verdict"
The Democratic Party of Korea evaluated the acquittal of Representative Lee Jae-myung in the second trial for violation of the Public Official Election Act as 'justice has been served' and demanded an apology from the People Power Party, which had launched political attacks.

On the 26th, at a press conference held at the National Assembly Communication Office in Yeouido, Chief Spokesperson Cho Seung-rae stated after the second trial verdict, "A judgment of justice served has been made, ringing the alarm against the political revenge investigation by the Yoon Seok-yeol prosecution."
Chief Spokesperson Cho said, "The noose of lies that bound Representative Lee has finally been cut," adding, "It was an absurd and groundless investigation and indictment from the start."
He expressed gratitude to the court for "ringing the alarm against the political revenge investigation by the prosecution," and said, "Ultimately, the truth has been revealed and justice has prevailed."
He continued, "The People Power Party, which has repeatedly engaged in political attacks in line with the political prosecution's sword dance, must apologize," and added, "As People Power Party Floor Leader Kwon Seong-dong said yesterday, they should accept the court's ruling."
Earlier, Floor Leader Kwon had stated at the People Power Party's floor countermeasure meeting held the previous day, "Representative Lee must make a public promise to accept the appellate court's ruling on the election law case."
Additionally, Chief Spokesperson Cho demanded that the Constitutional Court promptly set a date for the impeachment trial verdict of President Yoon. He said, "The people are eagerly awaiting the dismissal of the ringleader of the rebellion to end this chaos," and added, "The Democratic Party will fight even more vigorously for the end of the rebellion and the restoration of state affairs."
After the briefing, when asked by reporters about the future response to the prosecution, Chief Spokesperson Cho said, "We have not yet discussed it, but I think the prosecution's behavior is something that must be judged in due course," and added, "The prosecution must be held accountable not only for Representative Lee's case but for all ongoing processes."
