On the 26th, Seosan City in Chungnam announced that it held an appointment ceremony for members of the Public Officials Ethics Committee at the mayor's office, appointing four new members.
The Public Officials Ethics Committee operates to prevent improper accumulation of assets by public officials, ensure fairness in public service, and prevent conflicts of interest between public and private matters.
On this day, Mayor Lee Wanseop presented letters of appointment to four members, including two reappointed and two newly appointed members.
The appointed members will serve for two years to help establish a sound public service culture.
With these appointments, the Seosan Public Officials Ethics Committee is now comprised of seven experts from various fields, including judges, educators, and members of the Seosan City Council.
After the appointment ceremony, the committee unanimously elected Kim Beomjun, Chief Judge, as the new chairperson in a meeting.
The appointment of the new chairperson was necessitated by the personnel transfer of Chief Judge Sim Pan, who previously served as chairperson, leaving the position vacant.
Kim Beomjun, the newly appointed chairperson, has served at Uijeongbu District Court, Seoul Central District Court, and Seoul Northern District Court, and is currently serving as Chief Judge at the Seosan Branch of Daejeon District Court.
Mayor Lee Wanseop stated, "I hope the Seosan Public Officials Ethics Committee will do its utmost to ensure transparent and clean administration, as well as to establish a culture of integrity among public officials."
