Fostering Chungnam-Style Talent
Through Educational Excellence and
Securing Major Government-Funded Projects
Sangmyung University announced on the 26th that it has established the Chungnam Innovation Center to foster mutual growth between the local community and the university, and is carrying out various regional exchange activities and nurturing Chungnam-style talent.
About 100 student supporters from the Sangmyung University Chungnam Innovation Center have played a pivotal role as a stepping stone for strengthening win-win cooperation to solve local issues, engaging in various activities for regional development from the perspective of young people.
The main activities conducted by undergraduate students based on their major competencies include: ▲Developing content related to food, clothing, and shelter and promotional activities through online magazines to enhance the value and awareness of Cheonan ▲Growth projects for local elementary schools utilizing university infrastructure ▲Marketing of local company products to vitalize regional industries ▲Discovering hidden employment information in Chungnam ▲Developing programs to raise awareness using local literary spaces in Chungnam ▲Reinterpreting the eight scenic spots of Chungnam from the perspective of the MZ generation ▲Offering diverse healing culture experiences for Cheonan citizens ▲Producing media art that combines K-culture with Cheonan as a cultural city ▲AR-based tours of Cheonan ▲Promoting local festivals and traditional markets in Chungnam.
Sangmyung University, which opened its campus in Cheonan, Chungnam in 1985, is realizing its vision of becoming a "university that fosters innovative talent to lead future society" and is emerging as a cradle for nurturing talent in cutting-edge future technologies. The university has been recognized for its educational capabilities and has secured various government-funded projects, focusing on talent development.
The main government-funded projects secured by Sangmyung University and their respective funding scales are as follows: ▲Advanced Field Innovation Convergence University Project (Bio-Health Project Group, Intelligent Robot Project Group) with approximately KRW 14 billion over six years since 2021 ▲SW-Centered University Project with approximately KRW 10.4 billion over six years since 2019 ▲University Innovation Support Project with approximately KRW 18 billion over three years since 2022 ▲University Job Plus Center Project with approximately KRW 3.75 billion over five years since 2022, achieving the highest grade for three consecutive years in the performance evaluation of the University Job Plus Project.
Sangmyung University has also been selected for seven consecutive years for the "Content One Campus Establishment and Operation Project" supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency. Through interdisciplinary convergence education involving students from 12 departments across three colleges?Global Humanities, Engineering, and Arts?at the Cheonan campus, the university is building a leading educational model utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and taking the lead in discovering content in the Chungnam region.
