Increased from 20,000 to 30,000 Won...
Up to 150,000 Won on the Sangsaeng Card
Seo-gu District of Gwangju (District Mayor Kim Ikang) will increase the reward for residents who report households in crisis, who are at risk of falling through the welfare safety net, from the previous 20,000 won to 30,000 won.
According to Seo-gu on the 26th, any resident of Seo-gu can report a household in crisis?such as those struggling to make a living due to unemployment or business closure, or those in need of care due to illness or disability?by visiting or calling their local administrative welfare center, or through the "Welfare Crisis Alert" app.
The reward is provided as a Gwangju Sangsaeng Card, with 30,000 won given per case for reporting households that are selected as recipients of basic livelihood security, near-poverty groups, single-parent families, emergency support applicants, or those designated for case management. The maximum reward per reporter is 150,000 won. However, those who are obligated to report under the Social Security Benefits Act, public officials, the crisis household members themselves and their relatives, or those reporting households already receiving welfare services are excluded from eligibility.
Seo-gu will verify the reported information through on-site investigations and plans to provide various welfare services such as the basic livelihood security system, emergency welfare support, case management, and linkage to private welfare resources.
Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu District, stated, "There are still many neighbors around us suffering because they do not receive the help they need," and added, "Please actively participate in discovering neighbors in welfare blind spots to achieve zero welfare gaps and create a warm community."
Meanwhile, Seo-gu awarded a total of 51 rewards to crisis household reporters last year in its effort to eliminate welfare blind spots. The district is also pursuing initiatives such as the "Our Neighborhood Neighbor Care Team" check-in, prevention of solitary deaths, mobile safety care service, and welfare registration projects to discover households in crisis and strengthen the welfare safety net.
