Mokpo City to Operate Smart Upcycling Experience Booth at Spring Festival

Smart City Development Project and Citizen Participation Program

Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Park Hongryul) announced on the 26th that it will operate a smart upcycling experience booth to promote its Small-Scale Smart City Development Project at the ‘2025 Yudalsan Spring Festival’ to be held on the 5th and 6th of next month.

The city was selected in 2023 for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s Small-Scale Smart City Development Project and is working to introduce various smart solutions to address climate change and urban issues.

At this experience booth, visitors can participate in programs such as ‘Eco-friendly Whale Keyring Making’ using recycled materials from discarded fishing nets, and ‘Create Your Own Initial Keyring’ by assembling recycled plastic beads, allowing hands-on experience with smart upcycling services.

Additionally, a promotional zone for the smart upcycling service, which aims to establish a sustainable circular system through marine waste collection and resource recycling, will be set up to clearly communicate the purpose of the project to citizens.

A city official stated, “We hope this experience event will give citizens the opportunity to directly experience the value of upcycling and participate in environmental protection,” adding, “Starting with the Small-Scale Smart City Development Project, we will continue to foster sustainable eco-friendly industries and pursue various policies to address climate change.”
