Goryeong County in North Gyeongsang Province has taken proactive steps to address medical blind spots.
On the 25th, the county operated the "Visiting Happy Hospital" at the Ugok-myeon Health Center in cooperation with Gimcheon Medical Center and Gyeongbuk Provincial Gimcheon Senior Specialized Nursing Hospital, providing free medical services to about 50 residents.
The Happy Hospital is an on-site medical service where mobile examination vehicles and specialized medical staff visit areas with poor access to healthcare. For this event, a team of 15 medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, and medical technicians, as well as examination vehicles equipped with X-ray machines, bone density measuring devices, and other medical equipment, were mobilized.
Notably, the director of Gimcheon Medical Center personally participated in the consultations, providing a higher standard of medical service. Comprehensive care was offered, including internal medicine, Korean traditional medicine, carotid ultrasound, blood tests, X-rays, electrocardiograms, and health consultations.
In addition to medical services, the Daegu-Gyeongbuk branch of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority and the Goryeong County Dementia Relief Center participated, offering dementia screening and traffic safety education, thereby providing systematic services for overall resident health.
The "Visiting Happy Hospital" will be held seven more times until September, and residents requiring additional or more detailed examinations based on their results will be connected to Gimcheon Medical Center for continued treatment.
County Governor Lee Namcheol said, "Through the Happy Hospital, we will reduce inconveniences for medically vulnerable groups and provide practical help to improve residents' health."
