Training to Be Held from August 8 to September 9
Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province announced on the 26th that it is recruiting 30 trainees to promote garden culture and nurture citizen gardeners.
The recruitment targets are 20 for the basic course and 10 for the advanced course, and applications can be submitted from today until the 2nd of next month.
Anyone residing in Jeongeup City who is able to participate in volunteer activities after completing the course can apply for the basic course, while only those who have completed the basic course are eligible to apply for the advanced course.
The training will take place from August 8 to September 9 at Kkotdamwon, located at 757 Cheomdansahang-ro, Jeongeup City. The basic course will be held every Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and the advanced course every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with each course totaling 80 hours.
For the basic course, the city will subsidize 800,000 won out of the 900,000 won tuition fee per person, so trainees only need to pay 100,000 won. For the advanced course, the self-payment is 200,000 won out of 1,000,000 won. Applications should be submitted by sending the application form and required documents to the Kkotdamwon email, and trainees will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.
The citizen gardener training program, which began in 2019, has produced about 200 graduates to date. It is regarded as a course where participants can learn practical garden creation and management skills through hands-on training and field trips.
A city official said, "We hope that citizens interested in gardens will grow into citizen gardeners with professional skills and enjoy participating in volunteer activities."
