Psychological Recovery Assistance
Ulsan City, in cooperation with local medical institutions, is taking measures to manage the health of residents and wildfire response personnel in the area affected by the wildfire in Onyang-eup, Ulju-gun.
Ulsan City announced that at 10 a.m. on the 26th, a meeting with related organizations will be held in the conference room on the 3rd floor of Annex 1 at City Hall to establish a physical and mental health management system for residents and wildfire response personnel in the Onyang-eup, Ulju-gun area, which has been declared a special disaster zone.
At the meeting, about 10 representatives from four institutions?Ulsan University Hospital, Donggang Hospital, Ulsan Hospital, and the Metropolitan Mental Health Welfare Center?will discuss support plans for acute and chronic disease medical care as well as psychological recovery.
Main topics include providing medical consultations and care for chronic diseases such as respiratory illnesses, hypertension, and diabetes, as well as support measures for blood tests and X-rays.
Additionally, to prevent disaster-related mental disorders (trauma) among residents who experienced the fire, a team of disaster psychology experts will be formed, and a close cooperation system will be established to operate customized psychological stabilization support programs for different groups.
An Ulsan City official said, “Through this meeting, we aim to establish concrete plans to provide customized medical support and psychological counseling by touring the affected areas,” adding, “We will spare no effort to help citizens affected by the wildfire recover quickly and return to their daily lives.”
