Sacheon City Strengthens Preemptive Monitoring as National Wildfire Disaster Alert Issued

Cooperation Among Autonomous Disaster Prevention Teams, Safety Officers, Women's Civil Defense Mobile Units,
Autonomous Crime Prevention Members, and Volunteer Fire Brigades

Sacheon City in Gyeongnam Province will fully mobilize the village patrol teams until the forest fire disaster alert is lifted, in response to the issuance of the national crisis alert for forest fire disasters at the "Severe" level and to prepare for large-scale spring wildfires.

Due to recent large-scale wildfires occurring in neighboring cities, counties, and nationwide, momentary carelessness has led to significant social disasters. To prevent forest fires, various local civilian relief organizations such as village heads, autonomous disaster prevention teams, safety officers, women's civil defense mobile units, autonomous crime prevention members, and volunteer fire brigades will cooperate at the village level.

Sacheon City Jabul Disaster Foundation is holding an emergency meeting to respond to the national crisis alert for wildfire disaster.

The main monitoring activities will include inspecting residential wood-fired boilers, cracking down on burning near mountain borders, controlling the burning of household waste within residences, and strictly enforcing the ban on carrying fire sources by mountain visitors, among other strong wildfire prevention measures in the respective areas.

At 3:30 p.m. on the 25th, an emergency countermeasure meeting was held in the disaster safety situation room, urgently summoning representatives from towns and villages as well as the autonomous disaster prevention team. It was decided that each township would conduct prior publicity and disaster prevention activities to prevent wildfires caused by mountain visitors, the burning of agricultural waste, and negligence in handling wood-fired boilers.

Meanwhile, on the 23rd, Park Dongshik, the mayor of Sacheon, made a special request for the establishment of a safe Sacheon City in preparation for spring wildfires, emphasizing the participation and cooperation of civilian organizations centered on emergency duty and safety monitoring activities by all department officials.
