Various Events Including Cooking Shows and Tasting Sessions
The Korea Food Industry Association announced on the 25th that, together with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and KOTRA, it will hold 'Seoul Food To-Go in Mumbai' in Mumbai, India, until the 28th. This event is part of the globalization of the international food exhibition 'Seoul Food 2025' and was planned to establish a foothold for Korean food products in the Indian market.
India is expected to grow into the world's third-largest consumer market by 2030. The event was conducted in collaboration with the Indian consumer goods distribution channel 'Food Square.' Various consumer experience activities such as Korean food purchase promotions, cooking shows, and tasting sessions were prepared. More than 50 companies, including many export beginners and major local vendors, are participating in the event.
The K-Food promotion focuses on key products of companies that have entered the Indian market, such as ramen and Choco Pie. To diversify the product lineup, export beginner companies also exhibited meal kits and rice noodles. Consumers and distribution vendors interested in Korean cuisine were invited and guided on how to prepare kimchi, japchae, and hot dogs.
India has experienced a full-fledged Korean Wave boom over the past 2-3 years, starting with the influx of Korean content through Netflix. Demand for food products that allow diverse experiences of Korean culture has increased. Korean food exports have grown at an average annual rate of 23% over the past three years.
The Korea Food Industry Association, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and KOTRA are conducting a 'Comprehensive Export Package Support Project for India,' which provides one-stop support from export practical consulting to promotional events and intellectual property infringement prevention education to facilitate smooth entry into the Indian market.
