On the 27th, the Constitutional Court will deliver decisions on general constitutional complaint cases that have been under review. This is a regular schedule followed by the Court. However, it continues to remain silent on the highly anticipated ruling date for the impeachment trial of President Yoon Seok-yeol.
On the 25th, the Constitutional Court announced that on the 27th at 10 a.m. in the Grand Courtroom, it will deliver rulings on 10 constitutional complaints related to rights protection and unconstitutionality review, as well as 30 constitutional complaints concerning the cancellation of non-prosecution decisions. The Court regularly delivers rulings on constitutional complaints and unconstitutionality review cases together on the last Thursday of every month.
Recently, due to consecutive hearings and rulings on major cases such as the impeachment trial and disputes over authority, the number of cases scheduled for ruling is smaller than usual.
Previously, legal circles speculated that the Court might deliver the impeachment ruling for President Yoon or Minister of Justice Park Sung-jae on the regular ruling day, but these cases were not included in the regular ruling list.
Some expect that the impeachment ruling for President Yoon will be postponed to next week due to other events such as the appeal ruling on the Public Official Election Act involving Lee Jae-myung, the National Joint Academic Achievement Evaluation, and the regular ruling schedule. However, if the Court announces the ruling date as early as tomorrow (the 26th), a ruling on the 27th or 28th is still possible.
Meanwhile, since the conclusion of oral arguments on the 25th of last month, the Court has been holding deliberations almost daily to review President Yoon’s impeachment case.
