Evacuation Orders Issued Earlier in Sancheong and Hadong, Gyeongnam
The wildfire in Uiseong, Gyeongbuk rapidly spread to Andong, prompting an evacuation order for Andong residents.
On the 25th at around 5 p.m., Andong City announced, "The wildfire in the area is spreading throughout our city, so all citizens should evacuate to a safe place."
Then, at 5:05 p.m., they further stated, "The wildfire is spreading throughout the entire area. All citizens should evacuate to a safe place, and those who have already evacuated should remain in a safe location."
On the same day, as the large wildfire that started in Sancheong, Gyeongnam and spread to Hadong, Gyeongnam entered its fifth day of firefighting efforts, strong winds caused the flames to spread, leading to additional evacuation orders for nearby residents.
Earlier, at around 3:30 p.m., Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam sent an emergency disaster text message to residents of four villages in Sicheon-myeon?Dongdang, Samdang, Sinchon, and Boan?stating, "Nearby residents and hikers should immediately evacuate to a safe place." These four villages are home to 284 households and 437 residents.
At around 4:25 p.m., Hadong-gun, Gyeongnam informed residents of nine villages in Okjong-myeon?Angye, Gajong, Supchon, Goam, Witae, Galseong, Duyang, Dubang, and Jonghwa?that "Due to strong winds, the wildfire is rapidly spreading, so please evacuate immediately." These nine villages have 467 households and 809 residents.
The wildfire is spreading in the nearby hills of these villages, driven by strong winds.
The Korea Forest Service is continuing firefighting efforts by mobilizing all available resources, including 32 helicopters, 2,122 personnel, and 215 vehicles from related agencies.
