Gwangju Veterans Affairs Office and Moonseong Middle School Attach Memorial Ribbons for 55 West Sea Guard Heroes Ahead of the West Sea Defense Day on the 28th, the Gwangju Veterans Affairs Office made memorial ribbon vines with students at Gwangju Munseong Middle School, the alma mater of the late Sergeant Seo Jeongwoo, a victim of the Yeonpyeong Island shelling. The Gwangju Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs announced on the 25th that it had held an event to honor the 55 heroes of the West Sea Defense ahead of the upcoming West Sea Defense Day on the 28th.


This event took place at Gwangju Munseong Middle School, the alma mater of the late Sergeant Seo Jeongwoo, a victim of the Yeonpyeong Island artillery attack. Students created memorial ribbon vines, and major institution heads and students in Gwangju participated in producing a national roll call video for the 55 West Sea Defense warriors.


During the event, students carefully tied ribbons containing messages of gratitude and remembrance throughout the schoolyard and honored the sacrifices and dedication of the 55 West Sea Defense warriors by calling each of their names.


Meanwhile, the 10th West Sea Defense Day commemoration ceremony, hosted by the Gwangju Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, is scheduled to be held at Gwangju Munseong Middle School on the 28th.
