The inspection covered major facilities such as the slopes and stone retaining walls around the headquarters building, as well as walking trails open to the public.
The purpose of this inspection was to identify and immediately address potential safety vulnerabilities in the facilities. In particular, the safety of spaces frequently used by citizens, such as sports facilities, electric vehicle charging stations, and the sloped trail near the building, was closely examined.
Additionally, the team checked for risks of falling rocks on slopes, the surface condition of main vehicle passageways, the fastening status of electrical facilities, and drainage systems.
President Kim Dongseop directed that any issues that could be addressed on-site be resolved immediately, and ordered prompt action for facilities requiring urgent repairs or reinforcement. He also emphasized the need to review response systems for natural disasters such as wildfires, which may occur due to consecutive dry weather conditions.
Kim Dongseop, President of Korea National Oil Corporation, stated, "The thawing season is a time when the ground, which was frozen during winter, melts, increasing the risk of ground weakening, structural cracks, and falling rocks," and stressed, "It is important to thoroughly inspect the safety of spaces frequently used by citizens and eliminate risk factors in advance."
Since February, the corporation has been conducting safety inspections of facilities during the thawing season, starting with major facilities at the Donghae storage base and continuing at storage bases and construction sites nationwide. Repair and reinforcement work for any deficiencies found has been completed.
