Yeongam County Selected for 'OK Jeonnam Integrated Care' Pilot Project

'Yeongam All Care'... Supporting Daily Life for Seniors Aged 75 and Over

Yeongam County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Woo Seunghee) has been selected for the Jeollanam-do Integrated Care Pilot Project, 'OK Jeonnam Integrated Care,' securing 27 million KRW in provincial funding.

According to the county on the 25th, this pilot project aims to integrate and connect care services such as medical and nursing care so that elderly individuals who have difficulty with daily life can maintain a healthy lifestyle in their own homes.

With its selection for the pilot project, the county will implement the Yeongam-style integrated care program, 'Warm Care That Empowers Everyone, Yeongam All Care,' from April to December with a total budget of 90 million KRW.

Among the population of Yeongam County, those aged 65 or older number 15,642 (30.8% of the total), and those aged 75 or older number 7,925 (15.4%). As of 2023, the aging index stands at 329.4, significantly higher than the national average of 167.1 and Jeollanam-do's average of 237.3.

In particular, excluding Samho-eup, the proportion of residents aged 65 or older reaches 42.4%, indicating high demand for care services. The county plans to implement integrated care tailored to these regional characteristics.

Through the pilot project, Yeongam County will provide care for seniors aged 75 or older who are on the threshold of hospital or facility admission. Priority will be given to those receiving long-term care home benefits, patients discharged from medical institutions, high-priority recipients of customized elderly care services, and those awaiting long-term care eligibility assessment.

In line with Jeollanam-do's policy direction, the county will offer customized services divided into three main areas: 'visiting medical care,' 'daily living support,' and 'specialized services.' At the same time, new specialized services such as the 'Care is Good, Companion Service' and weekend care 'Teumsae Ieum Yeongam' will be developed to address gaps in care services.

Yeongam County, which established the first Integrated Care Promotion Team among counties nationwide this year, is taking a systematic approach to care services. The county will also pursue the 'YANA Project (You Are Not Alone),' selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 'Public Service Design Operation Support Project,' and the Ministry of Health and Welfare's 'Long-Term Care Home Medical Center Pilot Project,' aiming for synergistic effects.

Governor Woo Seunghee stated, "We will establish a demand-driven, integrated care system tailored to the era of super-aging," and added, "Through this pilot project, we will build a Yeongam-style integrated care model so that all residents can enjoy a healthy and happy old age in their own homes."
