Kakao Enterprise announced on the 25th that it has newly appointed CEO Lee Won-ju at the shareholders' meeting and board of directors held on the same day. CEO Lee concurrently serves as the CEO of Kakao Enterprise and Kakao affiliate DK Tech.
Appointed as CEO in February, Lee plans to promote technology development and business discovery centered on cloud, the core infrastructure of artificial intelligence (AI).
CEO Lee, originally a software engineer, joined Kakao in 2008 and was appointed CEO of DK Tech in 2015. DK Tech expanded its business portfolio by absorbing and merging KEP, a subsidiary of Kakao Enterprise, in March last year.
Kakao Enterprise explained that based on CEO Lee’s experience in B2B IT and AI infrastructure, he successfully established six core businesses of KEP, including Kakao Work and Kakao i.
CEO Lee stated, "I will do my best to organically connect the technological capabilities and business competencies of Kakao Enterprise and DK Tech and maximize business synergy," adding, "I will successfully lead the two companies representing B2B IT within the group and play a key role in helping Kakao Group leap forward as an AI native company."
