Seo-gu Plans to Operate "Seo-gu Peace Theme Train" to Foster a Culture of Peaceful Unification
The partial amendment to the "Ordinance on Inter-Korean Exchange, Cooperation, and the Establishment of a Foundation for Peaceful Unification in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City," proposed by Omiseop, a member of the Seo-gu Council in Gwangju, to support residents participating in projects aimed at fostering a culture of peaceful unification, passed the standing committee review held on the 24th.
Omiseop stated, "I initiated the amendment to specify the use of the fund in detail for its efficient operation," adding, "The purpose of the ordinance revision is to provide practical support measures for event operations, such as enabling partial support for resident participation fees in peaceful unification events conducted in Seo-gu."
He continued, "Amid unstable inter-Korean relations, the expansion of public consensus and social agreement on peace and unification is more urgent than ever," and added, "I hope residents will participate in peace and unification culture events, experience peace firsthand, and come to understand the necessity of peaceful unification."
Seo-gu is preparing to operate the "Seo-gu Peace Theme Train (tentative name)" as a project to establish a foundation for peaceful unification using the fund. If the ordinance passes the plenary session on the 26th, it will provide grounds to partially support participation fees for Seo-gu residents joining the unification train.
