Hampyeong County in Jeonnam is set to actively promote resident-led village development to revitalize rural communities.
According to Hampyeong County on the 25th, as part of this year's city and county capacity-building project, the county will hold the 'Happy Hampyeong Vitality Workshop' together with the Hampyeong County Rural Revitalization Support Center until September.
This workshop is designed to enhance understanding of resident-led village development and to encourage active participation from residents.
Starting with Suyon Village in Sonbul-myeon and Samjeong Village in Eomdam-myeon on the 22nd, a total of nine villages that have completed the 'Happy Hampyeong Village School Seed Class' will participate in the workshop.
Participating villages will complete a total of four training sessions by September, including resident capacity-building education, village theme discovery workshops, field trips to advanced sites, and workshops to identify village development projects.
After the workshop, Hampyeong County plans to host the 'Happy Hampyeong Harmony Festival' in November, creating a festival for rural village communities in Hampyeong. At this event, the achievements of each village will be shared, and continuous communication and exchange between villages will be promoted to establish a sustainable foundation for village development.
In addition, based on the development agendas of each village, three villages will be selected to receive 500 million KRW in project funding each.
Lee Sangik, the mayor of Hampyeong County, stated, "Through this workshop, we expect residents to directly design the future of their villages and lay the groundwork for sustainable development," adding, "We will continue to implement various policies so that residents can take pride in their villages and make Hampyeong an even better place to live."
