Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation (SH Corporation) announced on March 25 that it has completed the construction of the Godeok Onbitchae (Godeok Gangil Block 2) Zero-Energy Apartment Complex.
The Godeok Onbitchae project involves the construction of happy housing and public rental housing at 599-10, Gangil-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, with six buildings ranging from two basement levels to 18 above-ground floors, totaling 697 units. The complex was completed on March 20. Previously, in June and September of last year, applications were accepted for 437 happy housing units and 260 public rental housing units.
The Godeok Onbitchae project was promoted as part of the "Low-Carbon, Low-Energy Pilot Complex" plan announced by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in 2016, aimed at realizing a future-oriented zero-energy residential complex for energy independence and welfare.
SH Corporation applied cutting-edge energy-saving technologies, including high-performance composite insulation, geothermal and solar power generation facilities, and a Building Energy Management System (BEMS).
Among mid- to high-rise apartment complexes with more than 500 units, this will be the first in Korea to obtain Zero Energy Building (ZEB) Grade 3 certification. The energy efficiency rating is the highest, at 1+++, and the energy self-sufficiency rate has reached over 60%.
Compared to conventional apartment complexes, it is expected that monthly electricity and heating/cooling costs per household (based on an exclusive area of 39 square meters) will be reduced by approximately 22,000 won, or 34%, thereby easing the housing cost burden for future residents, including young people and newlyweds.
