RnT Technology, a KOSDAQ-listed company, announced on the 25th that it is conducting mass production tests of ceramic substrates for application in communication modules for defense weapon systems.
Utilizing long-accumulated material and process technologies, RnT Technology, which provides foundry services producing customized ceramic substrates, plans to respond to the increasing demand in the defense and advanced industries.
Ceramic substrates, known for their high reliability and environmental resistance, are set to be applied to communication modules for defense weapon systems, whose adoption necessity has surged due to the Israel-Hamas war and the Russia-Ukraine war. Currently, RnT Technology is establishing a full-scale supply system after final mass production tests and is expanding collaboration with major defense contractors.
Additionally, for electric vehicle power semiconductor modules, RnT Technology has signed non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) with five global companies and is jointly developing and testing ceramic substrates combined with metal heat sinks. The market for ceramic substrates in defense and automotive sectors is expected to grow from approximately 10 trillion KRW in 2021 to about 20 trillion KRW by 2028.
The company is also expanding its business of new material ceramic powders produced at its second plant in Gangneung. It exports new material ceramic powders to overseas automotive clients and plans joint development with domestic secondary battery material companies requiring powder mass production technology.
An RnT Technology representative stated, "Ceramic substrates have established themselves as core components in various industries such as defense and electric vehicles," adding, "We will strengthen cooperation with global companies and accelerate new technology development to further enhance our competitiveness in the market."
