Cheonan City to Create 30,000 Jobs This Year... Employment Rate Target Set at 68.7%

Cheonan City in Chungnam Province announced on the 25th that it has established and published the 'Annual Detailed Plan for Job Creation Measures,' aiming to create 30,000 new jobs and achieve an employment rate of 68.7% this year.


According to the public notice posted on the city's website, the job creation measures consist of five major strategies, 13 key action tasks, and a total of 108 projects.


The number of jobs by the five major strategies is as follows: ▲Private sector-led (7,012) ▲Innovation (840) ▲Citizen-led (3,907) ▲Targeted (13,959) ▲Coexistence (4,282).


The private sector-led job strategy aims to induce employment by improving the business environment and expanding the industrial base. By attracting outstanding companies and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, the city will lay the foundation for job creation, while also seeking to attract companies and secure jobs through 17 new industrial complexes centered on high-tech industries.


The innovation job sector consists of projects related to responding to future new industries and building a startup ecosystem. The city will also promote youth recruitment and discover startups through initiatives such as building a smart city and a display innovation platform.


Citizen-led jobs are mainly based on local resources and resident participation projects. The city plans to focus on creating public-interest jobs in areas such as village enterprises, local food, and welfare.


Targeted jobs include programs that support employment connections and reemployment for various groups, including youth, women, middle-aged individuals, and foreigners, as well as projects to improve settlement conditions for foreigners.


The coexistence job sector will promote improvements in the working environment, such as operating laundry facilities for workers' uniforms, providing industrial accident prevention education, and running support centers for non-regular workers. The city also plans to support job retention for small businesses by offering special guarantees and social insurance subsidies.


Mayor Park Sangdon said, "We will create high-quality jobs that citizens can truly feel," adding, "We will focus all our efforts to simultaneously enhance the local economy and the quality of life for residents."
