High-Level Party-Government Meeting May Be Held as Early as This Week
Full-Scale Discussions on Supplementary Budget Begin
Leadership Focuses on Public Welfare Initiatives
The People Power Party is accelerating its efforts on public welfare following Han Deok-su's return as Acting President and Prime Minister. While initiating the normalization of state affairs through high-level party-government consultations, it is also emphasizing its presence as the ruling party by actively pursuing policy development.
On the 25th, Kwon Seong-dong, the floor leader, stated at an emergency meeting, "We will promptly hold a high-level party-government meeting and officially begin discussions on trade responses and the supplementary budget." They are currently coordinating schedules to hold the high-level party-government meeting as early as this week. To respond swiftly to disasters such as wildfires, they plan to include 2 trillion won in disaster response contingency funds in the supplementary budget.

The People Power Party has announced a speed campaign for national stability. As part of this, they urged Acting President Han to fully activate the ruling-opposition-government council and to appoint the vacant ministers of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of National Defense. A key party official said, "The party and government will meet soon to assess the economic situation and comprehensively discuss wildfire support measures."
They are also focusing on public welfare efforts. On the morning of the same day, the party leadership, including Floor Leader Kwon, held a meeting with the fashion industry to hear suggestions from the industrial field. In the afternoon, they visited the Korea Federation of SMEs to check the current status of the industry.
The People Power Party is encouraged by the Democratic Party’s '9 losses in 9 attempts' in impeachment motions. As the ruling party’s consistent claim that "the opposition’s repeated impeachment attempts paralyzed state affairs" gains traction, they plan to take the lead in the political landscape by normalizing state affairs.
There is also a strategic move to expand their support base through a 'public welfare approach' contrasting with the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party has set up a tent office in Gwanghwamun and launched street protests demanding the dismissal of President Yoon Seok-yeol. In this situation, the ruling party is shifting the blame for political turmoil onto the opposition while showing a differentiated stance from street protests to appeal to moderate voters. Floor Leader Kwon emphasized, "The Democratic Party must immediately stop all politically motivated street protests and return to the National Assembly at once. It is time for the government and the National Assembly to work together and focus on the economy and public welfare."
