Chonnam National University Gwangju Industry-Academia Convergence Institute Appoints President Lee Geunbae as Third Chairman

Chonnam National University announced on the 25th that the Gwangju Industry-Academic Convergence Institute (Director Lee Chunhwan, Professor at Chonnam National University Department of Future Mobility) held the '2025 1st Regular Board of Directors Meeting and General Assembly'.

The meeting, held on the 24th in the main conference room on the 3rd floor of the university headquarters, appointed Lee Geunbae, President of Chonnam National University, as the 3rd Chairman to fill the vacancy left by the expiration of the term of the 2nd Chairman, former Chonnam National University President Jung Sungtaek. In addition, Lee Yunseong, the newly appointed Director of Research at Chonnam National University, was appointed as an executive director, further solidifying the university’s collaboration system for strengthening industry-academic cooperation.

The Gwangju Industry-Academic Convergence Institute, established in 2020, is an education and business support institution that provides field-oriented education for students of Chonnam National University’s Department of Future Mobility and operates programs to enhance the capabilities of workers at small and medium-sized enterprises in the local mobility and automotive industries.

Director Lee Chunhwan stated, "The Gwangju Industry-Academic Convergence Institute has laid the foundation for industry-academic convergence education and business support systems by establishing the Gwangju Bitgreen Industry-Academic Convergence District," emphasizing, "It is now a crucial time to fully activate and advance the industry-academic convergence district within the Gwangju Bitgreen Industrial Complex."

President Lee Geunbae said, "The Gwangju Industry-Academic Convergence Institute has played a key role at the center of industry-academic cooperation, leading the mutual growth of local industries and the university. I hope the industry-academic convergence district will become a sustainable and excellent industry-academic convergence education system that increases student satisfaction, and the university will actively support these efforts."
