KMI Korea Medical Institute and Korean Re Each Donate 30 Million KRW
Supporting Denture and Implant Procedures for Vulnerable Residents in Jongno-gu
Jongno-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jeong Munheon) will support denture and implant procedure costs up to 1.5 million KRW for vulnerable residents starting this month.
As part of the initiative "Jongno, Adding Peace of Mind to Welfare," the district will carry out the "Support Project for Dentures and Implants for Vulnerable Groups" until December this year. This is for residents who wanted to receive professional dental prosthetic treatment at medical institutions but could not visit a dentist due to financial difficulties.

The project was planned considering that untreated damaged teeth can weaken chewing function, making one more susceptible to diseases, and that aesthetic changes can cause social withdrawal or depression.
The eligible recipients include basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income groups, with support amounts varying by age group. Those aged 55 to 64 can receive up to 1.5 million KRW, residents aged 65 and older who qualify for Medical Aid Type 1 can receive up to 200,000 KRW, and those under Medical Aid Type 2 (including lower-income groups) and National Health Insurance beneficiaries (case management targets) can receive up to 400,000 KRW.
In particular, it is expected to greatly assist middle-aged households under 65 who previously could not receive public support for dental prosthetic procedures. Applications can be made by residents visiting their local community service center in person and submitting the required documents. For more details, the Social Welfare Division’s Life Security Team provides guidance.
Meanwhile, KMI Korea Medical Institute and Korean Re Co., Ltd., who sympathize with the project’s purpose, have each donated 30 million KRW to support the initiative. These two organizations have fulfilled their corporate social responsibility by supporting vulnerable groups’ healthy lives through public-type accident insurance premiums, installation of timer-type gas shutoff devices, and AI care robot services.
District Mayor Jeong Munheon stated, “We will carefully look after residents who do not benefit from public support and establish a meticulous care system,” adding, “We will consider various welfare projects that residents can feel in their daily lives and support the healthy and happy lives of vulnerable groups in every possible way.”
