A 40-Year Hyosung Veteran and Technology Expert
From Spandex Development to Global Growth
Hyosung Corporation has appointed Hwang Yoon-eon, Head of the Strategy Headquarters (age 65), as its new CEO. CEO Hwang joined Dongyang Nylon, the predecessor of Hyosung, at the age of 23 and contributed to strengthening the company's competitiveness in the textile business and strategy sector for over 40 years.
Hyosung Corporation announced on the 24th that it completed the appointment process of CEO Hwang at the board meeting held on the 22nd. CEO Hwang graduated from Masan High School in Gyeongnam (1979) and Seoul National University with a degree in Industrial Chemistry (1983), and joined Dongyang Nylon Central Technology Research Institute, the predecessor of Hyosung, in 1983. Notably, he participated in the development of the first domestic spandex fiber by a Korean company in the early 1990s. He is recognized for playing a key role in leading production and research and development to grow Hyosung into the world's number one spandex company.
CEO Hwang served as ▲ Spandex Production Team Leader in 1999 ▲ Gumi Plant Manager in 2000 ▲ General Manager of the Jiaxing Corporation in China in 2001. Later, in 2005, he served as the General Manager of Spandex and concurrently the General Manager of the Guangdong Corporation in China, and from 2010, he was in charge of Spandex PU. Since 2021, he has overseen mid- to long-term strategy planning and technology management as Head of the Strategy Headquarters.
Hyosung stated that it expects CEO Hwang to further strengthen Hyosung's global competitiveness based on his extensive experience and technical expertise, while leading the company's future growth and innovation.
