On the 21st, Gijang-gun in Busan held a vibrant forest cultural event with local children at Baramjae in front of Baramnuri-gil, Ilgwangsan, to celebrate the 80th Arbor Day.
The event was attended by Gijang-gun Mayor Jeong Jongbok, Gijang County Council Chair Park Hongbok and council members, Busan Forest Cooperative President Lee Sanggi, village heads, hikers, forest kindergarten instructors, and about 80 children, among others.

The event featured activities such as "Let's Grow a Green Forest Together: Planting Azaleas" and "Make Gijang's Forest Greener, Walk with the Wind!" allowing all participants to spend a meaningful time in harmony with nature.
First, everyone gathered in a forest clearing to stretch while breathing in fresh air. Afterwards, the children, holding pinwheels resembling azalea flowers, walked along Baramnuri-gil, enjoying the refreshing spring breeze.
After the walk, participants from various sectors of Gijang-gun joined together to plant azalea saplings, continuing the efforts to cultivate a green forest.
Mayor Jeong Jongbok said, "Just as the small saplings planted by the children today will grow and bloom, I hope our children will also grow up healthy, filled with hope and love like azaleas. We will continue to promote various forest welfare policies to create a happy city where the forest connects and children's laughter fills the air."
Starting this year, the county has officially launched the "Forest-Connection Happy City Initiative with One Million Azaleas." Beginning with this event, Gijang-gun plans to spread one million azaleas throughout the region, fostering cooperation and communication within the community as everyone works together to cultivate the forest.
