Public Procurement Service Immediately Implements Emergency Procurement Support for Wildfire Damage Response

The Public Procurement Service announced on the 24th that it will immediately implement emergency procurement support to swiftly restore damage and support companies located in wildfire-affected areas such as Ulsan, Gyeongnam, and Gyeongbuk.

The emergency procurement support will be in effect from the 24th until June 30. During this period, the Public Procurement Service will shorten and simplify procurement procedures to ensure that the supply of materials and construction contracts for wildfire-affected area restoration can be carried out quickly.

Additionally, materials and construction work for wildfire damage restoration and relief will be contracted through emergency bidding (5-day announcement) instead of general bidding (7 to 40 days announcement), and negotiated contracts will be actively utilized to minimize the time required for bidding.

When urgently purchasing wildfire suppression and damage restoration materials from the Nara Marketplace comprehensive shopping mall, purchases can be made immediately without the second-stage competition of multiple supplier contracts.

To ensure that wildfire suppression and damage restoration-related items can be promptly supplied to the site, the delivery inspection, which normally takes about 1 to 2 weeks, will be temporarily exempted.

If requested by institutions located in special disaster areas, payment of procurement fees will be deferred. Procurement companies that find it difficult to deliver within the contract period due to wildfires can extend the delivery deadline, and delay penalties due to late delivery will be waived or reduced.

Im Gi-geun, Administrator of the Public Procurement Service, said, “The Public Procurement Service will mobilize all available policy measures in the public procurement sector to fully support swift wildfire suppression and damage restoration.”
