Construction to Begin Early Next Month
Chronic Parking Shortages Expected to Be Resolved

Wando County, Jeollanam-do, will officially begin the construction of two parking towers (Haengbok Chungjeonso and Gaepo District Parking Tower) to address chronic parking shortages and improve residential conditions in the area.

The county officially announced the project and stated on the 24th that construction will commence early next month. Through this project, the county aims to expand parking spaces, enhance residents' convenience, and promote regional development.

Haengbok Chungjeonso will be established as part of an urban regeneration project on the site of the existing off-street parking lot near Hyundai Apartment (Gunnaeri 1162). The total project cost is 7.4 billion KRW (4.5 billion KRW from the national government and 2.9 billion KRW from the county), and the tower will have three floors above ground, four levels, and provide 200 parking spaces. Additionally, community facilities for residents will be included to create a more convenient parking environment.

The Gaepo District Parking Tower in Wando-eup will be built on the former KEPCO site (Gunnaeri 1240-14) with a total project cost of 4.7 billion KRW (1.3 billion KRW from the provincial government and 3.4 billion KRW from the county). This tower will also have three floors above ground, four levels, and offer 82 parking spaces, helping to alleviate the shortage of parking in the area.

Since the project sites are currently used as parking lots, the county plans to minimize parking inconveniences during construction by holding resident briefings, posting construction information banners, and promoting temporary parking lots.

Both Haengbok Chungjeonso and the Gaepo District Parking Tower are scheduled to break ground early next month, with completion targeted within the third quarter. Considering the current use of the sites as parking lots, the county has prepared measures to minimize inconvenience to residents during construction, including resident briefings, installation of construction information banners, and promotion of temporary parking lots.

Lee Jeongguk, Head of the Economic and Transportation Division, stated, "We expect that the construction of the parking towers will significantly alleviate parking shortages in Wando-eup," adding, "We will do our best to ensure that construction proceeds safely and systematically."
