Jeonnam Province Wins Grand Prize at Korea Best Festival Awards

At the 5th Korea Best Festival Awards held recently at BEXCO in Busan, Jeonnam Province won the grand prize in the metropolitan local government category. Provided by Jeonnam Province

Jeollanam-do and the Jeonnam Tourism Foundation received the Grand Prize in the Metropolitan Government category at the 5th Korea Best Festival Awards, held at BEXCO in Busan until the 23rd. This achievement follows their Excellence Awards in both 2023 and 2024.

Jeollanam-do was honored with the highest award among 77 participating local governments nationwide, as the Myeongnyang Battle Festival and the International Namdo Food Culture Festival, which were major initiatives last year, proved their value as attractive festival content.

Additionally, at this year's Korea Representative Festival Expo, held at BEXCO in Busan for three days, Jeollanam-do's booth, featuring creative and engaging designs, received an enthusiastic response.

The 5th Korea Representative Festival Expo is an experiential expo where visitors can discover outstanding local festivals and tourism content from across the country. It is co-hosted by Korea Exhibition Industry Co., Ltd. and others, and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization, making it the largest festival-specialized exhibition in Korea.

Jeollanam-do, together with five cities and counties?Mokpo, Damyang, Goheung, Jangheung, and Yeongam?operated a joint promotional booth, showcasing Jeonnam's signature content such as the 'Namdo International Gastronomy Industry Expo,' '2026 Yeosu World Island Expo,' 'Myeongnyang Battle Festival,' and 'Jeonnam Tourism Platform (JN TOUR).'

Shim Woojeong, Director of Tourism at Jeollanam-do, stated, "We will actively connect Jeonnam's unique content and tourism platforms to foster global festivals that attract not only domestic but also international visitors."
